About the painting: Migration
The story of the flight of the monarch is captured in a tryptic as it cannot be contained in just one frame. Guided by a desire for safety and survival, the butterflies fly great distances without having been to their destination but knowing in their hearts that it is where they must travel. This piece is dedicated to the many migrants who are on their own challenging journeys today with a wish that they are able to arrive and find peace. About the pendant: Homecoming This pendant explores the many reasons that we feel compelled to move. We travel far and wide to be safe and comfortable and loved. All made with glass cane, the colors and shapes on the bottom are separated and searching for the place where they will be welcomed. About the assemblage: My Grounds I am an immigrant. Many grounds sustain me. One ground is represented with tea, one with sand, and one with earth. My heart may be in one, my roots in another, and my growth in another. I am the sum of all of them. |

O Brave Chrysalis
One more metamorphosis
Your migration is
Such erratic flight
Millenia of miles
No predators predict
You perplex us
Danaus Plexippus how
Mountains you traverse
Yearning for the roost
They look up from battered boats
Seeking scents of home
Lead us to milkweed
Strong sensory receptors
Suckle us, Rose of Sharon
Instruct us in camouflage
True color vision
Clusters, to stay warm
Solo traveler
Palpitating pulchritude
Slow and sailing strong
